Many people believe that simply drying the outside of a device, placing it in rice, or blowing hot air into it will solve the problem. Unfortunately, these methods do not remove the moisture or corrosion hidden deep inside the device and, in many cases, they can actually make the damage worse.

Every water damage recovery begins with a complete disassembly so each internal component can be individually inspected, evaluated, and professionally treated. One of the biggest challenges with liquid damage is that the visible water is often only the beginning. Our advice is simple. If your device comes into contact with water:

• Turn it off immediately if it is still powered on.

• Do not connect it to a charger.

• Do not use a hair dryer, heat gun, oven, or direct sunlight.

• Do not place it in rice. Rice cannot remove moisture trapped beneath integrated circuits or inside electronic connectors.

• If possible, place the device in an upright position to allow excess liquid to drain naturally instead of spreading deeper into the phone.

• Bring it to a professional repair center as soon as possible so the recovery process can begin before corrosion causes additional damage.

We also encourage our customers to avoid unnecessary risks around swimming pools, lakes, rivers, beaches, boats, and especially the ocean. A single photo, video, or phone call is never worth risking the device that stores your memories, personal information, business data, and daily communication. While many modern devices offer some level of water resistance, no manufacturer guarantees permanent protection against liquid damage, and water-resistant seals naturally deteriorate over time.
